A bona fide purchaser (BFP)—or bona fide purchaser for value without notice (BFPFVWN)—in the law of real property, is an innocent party who purchases property for value, without notice of any other party's claim to the title of that property. Where a party fraudulently conveys property (typically real estate, such as land or houses) under a false title to a BFP, that BFP takes good title to the property, while the original owner will have a cause of action against the party who made the fraudulent conveyance.
